Davies’ plots were very simple, as were his characters and aliens, and there was usually a happy ending. I like that Moddat has made the Doctor darker, and that the companions mean more to the overall plot, along with interesting aliens, but his episodes feel so incomplete and lazy compared to RTD’s!

“At first, I felt nothing for Sky Silvestry. She was just another character. Then I watched Midnight with commentary from RTD. He said that she wasn’t just going through a break-up; It was a divorce. More than that, she was going to the sapphire waterfall because she was going to commit suicide there. That was why the creature targeted her— She was the easiest to break. Having nearly committed suicide myself, I can’t stop myself from crying when I think of her … and I have to wonder how things might have gone if they hadn’t taken that detour, because I know for a fact that the Doctor would have saved her just like my best friend saved me.”
